We are an Episcopal Church in downtown Woonsocket, right next to the Court St. Bridge on Hamlet Ave. We are focused on worshiping God in a joyful manner, teaching children and adults about Jesus and God, helping each other, and reaching out to the community through our ministries.

At St. James Church we strive...
  • To model Christ-like behavior of acceptance, forgiveness, and love
  • To reach families in our community for Christ
  • To assimilate them into the life of the Church
  • To nurture them toward Christian maturity

Saturday Services:    NEW

We are excited to announce that we will have once a month Saturday night service that will include, like our Sunday services, blended music (traditional, contemporary, etc.) by Mr. William Lacey. This service will be followed by a time for fellowship, with a light dinner too.

The next Saturday services will be January 10, 2015, and February 7, 2015, each at 5:00pm, followed by a light supper.

Sunday Services:

You are welcome to join us on Sundays for services at:

  • 8:00 AM (quiet service)
  • 10:00 AM (traditional service with choir) - this is a new time.

Please note: during the month of August and first Sunday in September, there will be only one service at 9:00 AM, instead of two services. Also, typically there is only one service at 9:00 AM for Easter.

Below are some upcoming events. Please be sure to check out the calendar for full details. Our building is a fully accessible facility.

Professor Alan Dershowitz's book, "Genesis of Justice" is an interesting commentary on ten Old Testament stories. Professor Dershowitz believes that the Book of Genesis reveals the origin of justice today.

Harry Charles, Attorney at Law, St. Louis said in his review, "Ranging over such topics as the insanity defense, police corruption, federal sentencing guidelines, and the defense of the guilty, the book provokes the reader to consider God's fairness as well as that of our current justice system. In the best Socratic tradition, Dershowitz (Reversal of Fortune) asks many questions and provides multiple scholarly and commonsense views of the lessons to be learned from the biblical tales. He ends the book with a discussion of the Ten Commandments and shows how they can be traced to the stories of Genesis. For believers of all faiths, as well as nonbelievers, this is an outstanding work."

We will begin this series on Sunday, February 1st, at 9:00 a.m. Hope to see you there.
