Choir

St. James Church has a long established Senior Choir and a newly-revived Youth Choir composed of parishioners who volunteer their time and talent.  Membership is open to all; there are no auditions for either choir.  The choirs are augmented by weekly soloists.  The choirs sing a wide variety of music culled from many sources to enhance the worship experience of all who attend.  Children should be able to read and take direction easily to participate in this ministry. If anyone has questions about either choir please call Shirley at St. James at 762-2222 or email her at Shirleyayers@cox.net.

Music By the Bridge 2009

On Sunday, May 17, 2009, at 4p.m., St. James Episcopal Church Music by the Bridge Concert Series will sponsor a concert by the Jubilate Ringers, a handbell choir from East Greenwich, RI, in the church building at 24 Hamlet Avenue, Woonsocket.  This is a group that began at St. Luke's Episcopal Church as a worship enhancement using two octaves of bells.  It has since expanded beyond the doors of St. Luke's to include members from many other churches, many more handbells, and the addition of handchimes.  (Come see and hear the difference between the bells and chimes!)

The growth of the group brought new energy and the ringers began to work in earnest on ringing skills, music theory, and more intricate handbell repertoire.  The ringers have performed throughout the state as an ecumenical outreach and enjoy bringing pleasure to others as they share their music.  A freewill offering will be taken at this concert to support their music ministry as well as the church's concert series, Music By the Bridge and a collation will follow the concert.  Spread the word and bring your family and friends.  This is an exciting group to see and hear!  Contact Shirley Ayers at 762-2222 or shirleyayers@cox.net for more information or to volunteer to assist that day.  Reservations will be accepted but are not a must.  Come celebrate spring at the final concert in our 2008-2009 series.
