St. James Episcopal ChurchSt. James Welcomes you!
We are an Episcopal Church in downtown Woonsocket, right next to the Court St. Bridge on Hamlet Ave. We are focused on worshiping God in a joyful manner, teaching children and adults about Jesus and God, helping each other, and reaching out to the community through our ministries.
At St. James Church we strive...
- To model Christ-like behavior of acceptance, forgiveness, and love
- To reach families in our community for Christ
- To assimilate them into the life of the Church
- To nurture them toward Christian maturity
You are welcome to join us for services on:
- 8:00 AM (quiet service)
- 10:00 AM (traditional service with choir)
- 5:00 PM
Below are some upcoming events. Please be sure to check out the calendar for full details. Our building is a fully accessible facility.

Our Lenten educational program will focus on the history, theology, and worship of the Episcopal and Lutheran Churches, using the book “Lutherans & Episcopalians Together” by Christopher Webber and Scott Cady. The Rev. Peter Tierney trained with the authors during his seminary education, and first led public worship at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Cornwall, CT.
St. James’ Annual Meeting will take place on Sunday, March 4th following the 10:00 AM service. Lunch will be served. We will hear a report from the Treasurer, and elect new vestry members and officers. If you are making a submission for the Annual Report, please turn it into the office by February 24th.
The Coat of Many Colors is in special need of practical shoes: sneakers & everyday flat shoes.
Calling all book worms: the St. Mark Book Club is rekindling its flame with Lauren Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, a historical biography of Louis Zamperini. Come and enjoy spiritual conversation, food, and get to know your neighbors from a different perspective. The Book Club will meet twice a month during the months of March, April, and May. Dates and meeting place will be set when group members are finalized. Book Club is open to EVERYONE, so grab a neighbor, friend, or relative. All interested people should email Caitlyn McCann (firstname.lastname@example.org) by February 25th. Hope to see you there!
